About Massage

Recent studies on massage have established that this therapy can lower an individual's blood pressure, make one feel more relaxed, relieve tension, soothe away headaches, relax tense muscles or conversely make someone more alert.

Massage can preserve health, assist in healing illness and relieve us from stiffness and pain. It provides us with a means to counteract stress and to deeply relax.

For thousands of years, massage has been used by all cultures, worldwide, to heal and soothe the sick. It offers the gift of touch, movement and energy, qualities that are associated with wellbeing.

Massage can also be a journey of self-discovery, revealing how it feels to be more relaxed and in tune with ourselves, to experience the pleasure of a body that can breathe and be more in tune with itself.

Types of Massage Offered

There are many different modalities of massage specialising in different areas of holistic health. Below is a list of the massage services we offer:

Swedish Massage

The most common type of relaxation or stress reduction massage. This type of massage helps to reduce stress, circulate blood and lymph flow, and remove toxins from muscle tissue.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage uses several specialised techniques to locate and repair damage and to support and speed up the body's own repair mechanisms. The massage is applied directly to the skin using a lubricating medium, usually pure vegetable oils, which ensures that the muscles associated with the disorder and mobilisation of the joint are deeply penetrated. Passive stretching moves are also used. Remedial massage is particularly effective in the reduction of tension and stress within the body.

Sports Massage

This technique helps athletes train, prepare and recover their muscles from exertion. Sports massage works by improving circulation, and transporting oxygen and stored nutrients to the area to reduce pain and decrease recovery time.

Combined Treatment

We have found that greater results can be achieved by using a combination of therapies to tackle complex and chronic problems rather than limiting clients to only one therapy.

For this reason we often combine different therapies together in order to achieve greater overall results.

For example for clients with chronic muscle tension we have found that using the Far Infra Red sauna before a massage treatment will greatly relax the muscles allowing the therapist work deeper into the muscle tissue without causing the client as much discomfort.

Also for most chronic conditions we have found that a combination of massage and SCENAR therapies to be much more effective than either modality on its own.

For wounds and injuries we often combine the SCENAR and the Bioptron light therapy for best results.

For detoxification, best results are achieved using the Far Infra red sauna, Massage, SCENAR and Nutritional supplements recommended by our Nutritionist.
