What is SCENAR?
SCENAR is an acronym for Self Controlled Energo Neuro Adaptive Regulator. Is a hand held, electro-stimulation therapeutic medical device that is registered with the TGA (Australian Register Therapeutic Goods 101783). It is ideal for pain control in various functional and pathologic processes and helps to correct them by stimulating the body's own healing reserves.
How does it work?
The SCENAR is a reflex biofeedback device that is non-invasive and drug free. It works on the principles of acupuncture and reflex zones and is operated by placing the device directly onto the skin, where it collects electromagnetic signals, records the skin response and uses its sophisticated software to return a freshly modulated and modified signal back to the body. Because of this revolutionary dynamic and direct reflex bio-feedback and bio-feedforward approach the body does not adapt to the SCENAR signals and change occurs rapidly. Since both reflexology and acupuncture stimulate areas of the skin that represent internal organs and energy pathways, the SCENAR influences every system of the body and assists in balancing energy flow of the meridians. It does this by locating and resolving asymmetries. (Asymmetries are differences, telltale signs of problems that can be detected when using the SCENAR device on the skin). The SCENAR’s interactive therapeutic stimulation process fuses bio-feedback and biofeedforward in a real time dialogue with the nervous system to prompt the production of regulatory peptides which help to re-establish the body’s natural healthy state. The peptides produced through SCENAR stimulation last up to several hours, and the healing process can continue long after the treatment is over. |
Who Can Benefit from SCENAR ?
The SCENAR is used world wide as an effective method for relieving pain and restoring function in a number of disorders including:
- Acute and chronic pain- back & neck pain, sciatic pain, chest pains and migraines
- Autoimmune- rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, allergies and allergic reactions
- Circulatory- hypotension, hypertension, cold hands and feet
- Fatigue- low energy
- Respiratory- asthma, bronchitis, congestion, influenza, laryngitis
- Neurological-trigeminal neuralgia
- Skin conditions - eczema, shingles, dermatitis, age spots, burns, bunions, bedsores, chapped hands, cuts, scratches, ingrown hair/toenails, and insect stings or bites, age spots and lines
- Musculoskeletal- sprains, carpel tunnel syndrome, dislocations, fractures, bruises, muscle aches & cramps
- Gastrointestinal- abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence (gas) indigestion,
- Genito-urinary conditions such as bladder infection, cystitis, prostate and period pain
- Psychological and emotional conditions- trauma, stress, tension, depression
The SCENAR device is particularly effective for various types of organic and referred pain, musculoskeletal pain, and, as evidenced by its use for the Russian Olympians, for acute conditions such as fractures and sprains in the 2000 Olympic Games. By acting systematically on the body to restore a healthy balance the SCENAR works on disease and dysfunction of all kinds.

History of SCENAR
The SCENAR was developed by Russian scientists and doctors in the 1970’s to overcome the unique problems of space travel. It is now part of mainstream medical practice in Russia where it is applied to a variety of functional disorders. Today SCENAR is also finding increasing worldwide acceptance and Australian health practitioners, therapists and members of the public now use SCENAR devices to get great affect.
Scientific Research
Most recorded results of the effectiveness of SCENAR have come from Russia and other European countries. At Macquarie University in Sydney a randomized controlled trial compared the effectiveness of the ENAR (the personal version of the SCENAR) to the conventional TENS device. The study indicated ‘dramatic and sustained results’ with chronic pain relief, Disability reduction functional, improvements and general health restoration using the ENAR. (diagram)
As therapeutic interactive stimulation, SCENAR doesn’t treat any specific condition. Its purpose is to create a dynamic change that stimulates the body’s own natural healing process. The most pronounced and immediate effect after application of the SCENAR is pain relief, which often lasts a lot longer than after the use of more conventional means of pain control. Some patients have found more pain relief after SCENAR treatment than from administered opiates.

Is SCENAR safe?
As the SCENAR impulses are similar to endogenous (body’s own) nerve impulses, it is non-damaging. However, as a precaution, people with cardiac pacemakers and pregnant women are NOT allowed to have SCENAR sessions.
SCENAR treatment procedure
After an initial case history is taken SCENAR treatment will be performed using a digital assessment according to the patient’s needs. When the SCENAR is run over the spine, abdomen or affected area, a gentle tingling/stroking sensation will be felt. Although these areas may not seem to directly relate to the obvious symptoms often they will be showing distinctive signs. By rectifying these ‘asymmetries’ a ‘dynamic’ or change is generated and the healing process is facilitated. The initial treatment can take up to 1 ½ hours, however some acute pain can dissipate within ten minutes. People generally experience an increase in energy, more refreshing sleep and an improved sense of well being. Children can be treated, and animals enjoy it . SCENAR treatments are guided by the body’s responses.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends upon the unique requirements of the presenting pain - condition - dynamics (or lack of same). Acute conditions usually respond well to intensive and frequent sessions with some conditions resolving with as little as 3-4 sessions. Chronic problems often require a more measured and gentler approach with more frequent sessions at the beginning of a course of sessions. The total number of sessions will ultimately depend upon individual factors such as age, nutrient and health status, lifestyle, degree of severity and response level of the pathological process.
